A native of Macon, Georgia, Dr. Richardson earned a B.A. from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.S. from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Richardson received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Richardson completed his post graduate training in general surgery at UTHSCD Affiliated Hospital and Parkland Memorial Hospital, Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas in 1981. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Richardson is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the Georgia Society of General Surgeons (founding member), Georgia Surgical Society, Medical Association of Georgia, AOA Honor Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress, Parkland Surgical Society, and the Dougherty County Medical Society. Dr. Richardson is a member of Albany Surgical, one of the largest and oldest surgical practices in South Georgia. He is a member of the medical staff at Phoebe Putney Hospital.
