Dr. Elser Poulos is a native of Chicago. She is an expert in pelvic floor problems and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Elser is an expert in the non-surgical treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Dr. Elser Poulos received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at University of Illinois-Urbana, her medical degree at Rush medical College, Chicago, Ob-GYN residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, and fellowship in Urogynecology at the Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond. Dr Elser Poulos helped to create the fellowship in Urogynecology at the Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond. After spending time on the teaching faculty at MCV, Dr. Elser returned to the Chicago area to found the Urogynecology Center at Advocate Christ Medical Center in 1995 and has since opened a center for Urogynecology services in the Western suburbs.

Dr. Elser Poulos’s other special interests include evaluation and development of minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of urinary incontinence, prolapse and other gynecologic indications. She travels nationally and internationally to lecture and teach surgical anatomy and new procedures to gynecologic and urologic surgeons. A member of the Association of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS), Dr. Elser Poulos is proud that her practice holds a minimally invasive surgery rate of >98%. Dr. Elser Poulos embraces technology that promotes safe and efficient minimally invasive surgery in women. The robotic tools have allowed her to offer Abdominal Sacrocolpopexy as a minimally invasive surgery to women with advanced and recurrent prolapse.
